Minor Softball Rules 2018

1. #1 Rule: HAVE FUN!
2. A coach of the batting team will pitch. A Player will catch. Another coach or (CORI approved) parent volunteer will umpire.
3. Each batter will be pitched a maximum of 7 pitches. Batter will be called out at 3 strikes or 7 pitches, whichever comes first. 4 balls and 3 strikes (swinging or not) will be counted.  
4. Starting in game 7 (at coach’s discretion) a player will pitch.  After 4 balls, the coach will pitch the remainder of the 7 pitches or strikes.
5. A safely hit ball to the infield/outfield allows the runners to advance up to 2 bases with the liability of being thrown out.
6. A defensive player will occupy the mound alongside the coach.
7. Games will be 5 innings in length or 1 hour and 30 minutes.
8. There will be 3 outs or a maximum of 4 runs scored per inning.
9. No infield fly rule, no drop third strike.
10. Coaches are allowed to be on the field to provide defensive instruction. (all adults on field, umpiring or in dugout must be CORI approved.)
11.  A continuous batting order is used.
12.  Up to 10 players may be on the field at once. Maximum of 6 infielders (including pitcher and catcher).  No player should play the same position more than 2 innings.  No player should be on the bench more than 1 inning per game (unless injured).  Borrowing players IS allowed (no forfeits will be called for low numbers.)
13. Teach players not to throw the bat!  1 warning will be given to any player who throws their bat.  If the same player throws the bat again they will be out.
14. Pitching distance 35 ft.  Base distance 55 ft.
15. No bunting, leading, or stealing.
16. 11’ Softies softballs will be used.
17. All players must remain in dugout  (behind fence) unless batting, on deck, on double-deck, or base running.
18.  Player pitchers must wear a face mask.
